No. 10 Baylor School handled Loudoun Sports Academy 37-12 on Friday night at Heywood Stadium in Chattanooga, with the Red Raiders pulling away after a tight first half and piling up 422 yards of offense.
Baylor’s balance showed up in the numbers. The Red Raiders threw for 313 yards and finished the game with a 27-6 edge after halftime. For Baylor coach Erik Kimrey, the win marked his 240th career victory.
The game also carried plenty of recruiting interest, with one Tennessee commit and several other Vols targets on the field. Baylor running back David Gabriel Georges, who committed to Tennessee on July 22, ran for 70 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. He also helped set the tone early, picking up a first down on third-and-2 before later punching in a 1-yard score with 3:58 left in the first half.
Wide receiver Antwaun Adams was Baylor’s top receiving threat, finishing with five catches for 131 yards and a touchdown. One of his grabs went for 44 yards. Cornerback Xavier Bowman made his presence felt on defense, intercepting two passes, including one in the end zone late in the game.
Baylor quarterback Keegan Croucher, an Ole Miss commit, accounted for two touchdowns. He ran for a score with 10:46 remaining and later hit Jayden Cauvier on a 13-yard touchdown pass with 4:25 left. Croucher also connected with tight end Braxton Rein earlier in the night, and Beckham Stokes added another Baylor touchdown on a scoring pass with 2:23 left in the third quarter.
Loudoun Sports Academy had its moments, too. Four-star wide receiver Malachi Lee, who received a Tennessee offer on June 23, scored twice for the Timberwolves.
His first touchdown came on a 39-yard pass with 21 seconds left in the second quarter, and he added another score with 10:10 remaining. The extra point after his first touchdown was blocked.
Loudoun also got an important fourth-and-2 conversion on the Baylor 38-yard line in the second quarter, but Baylor’s defense tightened from there. The Red Raiders were already up 23-6 by the end of the third quarter and finished the job in the fourth.
Tennessee’s footprint on the game stretched beyond Baylor. Along with Georges, Baylor players Antwaun Adams, Braxton Rein, Xavier Bowman and linebacker Edward Brewer have all picked up scholarship offers from Tennessee. Loudoun defensive end Darnell Engoto, a 2029 prospect, announced on Aug. 18 that the Vols were in his top 11, joining Miami, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Indiana and Texas A&M.
