Ole Miss has not disappeared from the race for five-star 2027 running back David Gabriel-Georges, even if the latest buzz has leaned more toward Tennessee and Ohio State.
Gabriel-Georges, who plays at Baylor High School, is set to announce his commitment on Wednesday. His final three are Tennessee, Ohio State and Ole Miss, and while the Rebels have not been getting the same projection momentum as the other two, they remain very much in the conversation.
That matters because Gabriel-Georges has some real ties to Oxford already. He originally came from Canada before transferring to Baylor High School two years ago, which means his senior year will be his third season with the Red Raiders.
One of the first players he connected with after arriving was Shekai Mills-Knight, a former Tennessee target who committed to Ole Miss and is still there. Mills-Knight was a key teammate for Gabriel-Georges during that first season, and that relationship gives the Rebels a legitimate foothold in this recruitment.
There is also a quarterback connection worth watching. Gabriel-Georges will now be catching passes from Keegan Croucher after Briggs Cherry moved on to Louisville. Croucher is currently committed to Ole Miss in the 2027 class, giving the Rebels another familiar face in the mix.
Tennessee has its own response to that Baylor pipeline. The Vols have three former Baylor players on their roster in Jamyan Theodore, Gabriel Osenda and Joakim Dodson.
None of that guarantees anything, but in a recruitment this close, Ole Miss cannot be brushed aside ahead of Wednesday’s decision.
