Tennessee Targets Georgia's Top QB Recruit in Bold Move

Tennessee intensifies efforts to lure five-star QB Jayden Wade from Georgia, as the Vols aim to continue their successful quarterback recruiting streak.

Tennessee football is making waves in the recruiting world under Josh Heupel's leadership, especially when it comes to securing top-tier quarterbacks. The latest addition to their roster is Faizon Brandon, a five-star talent and the third-ranked recruit nationwide. His arrival as a true freshman is already generating excitement among Vols fans.

Looking ahead, Tennessee recently secured three-star quarterback Derrick Baker for the 2027 class. Now, their sights are set on the 2028 cycle, with a particular focus on landing Jayden Wade, a five-star quarterback who’s creating quite the buzz.

Wade is currently committed to Georgia, a commitment he’s held since November, despite strong interest from both Tennessee and LSU. After a report from Chad Simmons of Rivals highlighted this recruiting battle, Wade reaffirmed his allegiance to Georgia with a tweet featuring UGA’s mascot and the caption, "GoDawgs."

Ranked as the top player in the 2028 class, Wade isn’t just any quarterback-he’s the cream of the crop. Playing for IMG Academy in Florida, the California native showcased his skills last season by leading his team to a perfect 9-0 record. His impressive stats included 1,383 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and just two interceptions.

Currently, the Vols have yet to secure any commitments for the 2028 class, but they’re building a solid foundation with four commitments already in place for 2027. This follows the recent addition of Baker and the departure of three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield. Leading the 2027 group is Princeton Uwaifo, a four-star offensive tackle from in-state, ranked 111th nationally.

Tennessee's recruiting success is underscored by their elite 2026 signing class, which was ranked fourth in the country. With Brandon headlining that group, the Vols are poised to continue their upward trajectory in college football.
