Five-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman has officially set his commitment date: February 10. The Brentwood Academy standout is down to a final five of Miami, Oregon, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt - a group that reflects just how coveted he’s become in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
Bowman, who originally committed to Oregon back in July, reopened his recruitment in mid-September. Since then, it’s been a flurry of visits and renewed interest from top programs, with Tennessee squarely in the mix.
The Vols have been on Bowman’s radar for a while - he made multiple trips to Knoxville even before his initial pledge to the Ducks. And when he de-committed, Tennessee wasted no time getting him back on campus, hosting him the week before their game against Georgia and again after their matchup with UAB.
That persistence may be paying off. Vanderbilt, however, has emerged as a legitimate contender down the stretch. While the Commodores haven’t always been a major player for five-star talent, they’re making a strong push to keep Bowman in-state - and close to home.
Standing at 6-foot-1, Bowman brings a dynamic presence to the field. His junior season numbers speak for themselves: 56 receptions, 1,023 yards, and eight touchdowns while catching passes from current Tennessee quarterback George MacIntyre at Brentwood Academy. That existing chemistry with MacIntyre is worth noting - especially for a Tennessee program looking to build continuity and firepower in its future offense.
Nationally, Bowman ranks as the No. 32 overall player in the 2027 class, the No. 6 receiver, and the No. 2 player in Tennessee, per the 247Sports Composite. That kind of profile makes him a potential game-changer for whichever program lands him.
His recruitment is also part of a broader storyline unfolding in the Volunteer State. The 2027 class in Tennessee is stacked.
Leading the way is elite running back David Gabriel Georges from the Baylor School. FRA linebacker Omarii Sanders, the No. 3 player in the state, recently committed to Vanderbilt over Tennessee.
And the Vols already have a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, who ranks No. 7 in the state.
As for Tennessee’s 2027 class overall, it currently includes four commitments - among them Knoxville linebacker JP Peace - and ranks No. 13 nationally and No. 5 in the SEC.
Bowman’s decision will be one of the most anticipated of the cycle, not just because of his talent, but because of what it could signal for the direction of recruiting battles in the region. With just over a month to go, the race is heating up - and February 10 is circled on a lot of calendars.
