Tennessee Passing Game Suddenly Turning Heads

Tennessee's spring practices spotlight the evolving passing game under new coordinator Kelsey Pope, highlighting standout performances and future goals.

Tennessee football is deep into its spring practice schedule, and there's plenty of buzz around the Vols' receiving corps. On Monday, Kelsey Pope, the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator, shared insights alongside some of his players, offering a glimpse into the team's development.

Pope, now with an elevated role, discussed the progress of his squad, including five-star freshman TK Keys and the returning stars. He highlighted the importance of tracking growth through video evidence, showcasing how players have evolved over time.

He singled out Radarious Jackson and Travis Smith Jr., noting their impressive transformation from last year. “Both of them are playing fast,” Pope remarked.

“Their growth is on different paths, but they share an urgency and competitiveness. Physically, they look like completely different players compared to a year ago.

I’m pleased with their progress.”

The emphasis for these players, Pope added, is on mastering the small details that set them apart as they move through spring practice and into fall camp.

Joining Pope in the media session were tight ends Ethan Davis and Dasaahn Brame, along with wide receivers Radarious Jackson, Joakim Dodson, and Ian Duarte. Each shared their perspectives, contributing to the narrative of a team eager to make its mark.

With the groundwork being laid this spring, Tennessee's receiving unit is shaping up to be a formidable force, driven by a blend of fresh talent and seasoned veterans. The focus remains on continuous improvement and leveraging every opportunity to elevate their game.
