Tennessee’s lopsided 56-9 win over Furman doubled as a recruiting stage, and one of the visitors left Knoxville with more than just a game-day memory.
2028 Westlake (GA) OT Nassah Williams was among the high school juniors on campus for the game, and the day ended with Tennessee extending an offer. Williams later described the visit as a strong one, pointing first to the atmosphere inside Neyland Stadium.
"I really enjoyed the game today. The atmosphere at Neyland was definitely one of the best parts; it was extremely loud, and you could feel the energy throughout the whole stadium," Williams said in a quick response following the game with Vols on SI.
He followed that up with another simple but telling assessment of the day.
"The environment was amazing. I mean, the crowd was amazing and loud. I had fun," said Williams.
The visit also came with a meaningful recruiting development. Williams announced on social media that he had received an offer from Tennessee, and the Vols made that move during his in-person visit. Those face-to-face offers tend to carry extra weight, and Williams said the opportunity felt connected to recent communication with Kevin Pendleton.
"They saw the potential, and they see something great for me, you know," said Williams.
At 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, Williams already has the frame that will grab attention. His offer list includes Boston College, Georgia, Duke, and Wake Forest.
Williams also had good things to say about Tennessee’s approach, pointing to both Pendleton and Glen Elarbee.
"They're really friendly. They like to get to know your family."
Even with Tennessee only recently entering the picture, Williams came away noticing the way the program carried itself from top to bottom.
"I could see the players having fun. Even when I was walking around, even the third and fourth string guys, everyone got a smile on their face. That's what I liked about it, seeing everybody having fun," Williams told reporters.
Williams said his next stop will be Kennesaw State this Saturday, Sept. 12, followed by trips to Cincinnati and Georgia.
