Tennessee Made A Classy Off-Field Move Fans Will Appreciate

In a heartwarming act of sportsmanship, Tennessee Football's transition to Adidas paves the way for a meaningful donation to nearby Carson-Newman.

Tennessee’s switch from Nike to Adidas has already changed the look across the athletic department, but the move also left behind a pile of gear from the old era. Instead of letting it sit unused, the Volunteers sent a good chunk of that equipment to a local program.

According to WATE’s Casey Kay on X, Carson-Newman received much of the football equipment after Tennessee made the transition. The donation included jerseys, pants, shoes, and other accessories. Kay also shared video on Saturday showing Carson-Newman players wearing the Vols’ old jerseys, pants, and cleats.

Carson-Newman is in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and its stadium, Burke-Tarr Stadium, sits just 30 miles northeast of Neyland Stadium. That kept the old Tennessee gear close to home, which has been a hit with fans who were glad to see it stay local.

The equipment giveaway comes after Tennessee Athletics officially moved to Adidas this summer, ending a 10-season run with Nike. The new look has drawn strong praise, and fans have especially liked the fresh merchandise and updated uniforms.

Most of the new combinations have already been revealed, though a few are still being held back for later, including Vol Football’s Smokey Grey look. Tennessee’s Adidas uniforms keep the familiar traditional base but add some updated touches. The road white football uniforms, for example, have dropped the thick orange collar and replaced it with a small orange Power T patch at the neckline.

For Tennessee, the move was more than just a wardrobe change. Sending the leftover Nike gear to Carson-Newman gave the equipment a second life and turned a uniform transition into a local boost for a nearby DII school.

Nico Iamaleava Just Gave Tennessee Fans A Surprising Leadership Reflection

Nico Iamaleavas path has already taken a sharp turn from where Tennessee fans first knew him. He spent 2023 behind Joe Milton III, then opened the 2024 season as the Vols starting quarterback before moving on to UCLA in 2025 after disputes and missed practices changed the course of his time in Knoxville.

What makes his latest leadership reflection stand out is the backdrop around him now. UCLA has gone through a difficult season that ended with DeShaun Fosters firing, while Tennessee has kept moving forward with Joey Aguilar running the offense under Josh Heupel. For Vols fans, it is another reminder of how much can change in a year, and how Iamaleavas story still hangs over both programs in different ways. [Read more 🡒]

Tennessee Awaits A Huge 2028 QB Decision That Could Spark Its Class

Tennessees 2028 quarterback board is about to get a little clearer, and possibly a lot more interesting, with a major decision looming this week. Craft is set to make his college commitment live Monday afternoon from Lake Norman High School in North Carolina, with the announcement streamed on Rivals YouTube channel, giving the Volunteers a chance to land one of the most important early pieces in that cycle.

The timing matters because Tennessee still does not have a commitment in its 2028 class, and neither does Oregon, another program in the mix. Crafts finalists also include Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Michigan, so the Vols are battling a familiar national group for a player who could help set the tone for how their class develops from here.
