Tennessee basketball is still in the thick of the race for five-star wing Malachi Jordan.
Jordan trimmed his list to eight schools on Wednesday afternoon, and the Vols made the cut alongside Alabama, Kansas, UConn, USC, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Washington. For Tennessee, the timing matters too: Jordan has set an official visit for Sept. 20, the weekend of the Texas football game.
That trip gives the Vols a real shot to keep pressing in a recruitment that already looks like it could come down to a trio of SEC programs. Jordan also has official visits lined up with Alabama and Vanderbilt.
The White Station, Tennessee native has already spent time around the program. He took two unofficial visits to Tennessee during the winter of 2025 and saw the Vols beat the future national champion Florida Gators and knock off Alabama on a Jahmai Mashack buzzer beater.
Jordan is rated as the No. 1 small forward in the 247sports composite rankings. Rivals lists him as a five-star and the No. 14 player in the country.
At 6-foot-6, Jordan has already had a winding prep career. He played his freshman year at the Ensworth School in Nashville, moved to Link Academy in Missouri for his sophomore season, spent last year at Dream Christian in Arizona and announced earlier this summer that he’ll transfer to Prolific Prep in Florida for his senior year.
Tennessee’s recruiting board also includes in-state three-star Davis Cochran. The Vols have hosted four-star shooting guard RJ Moore and four-star shooting guard Chase Lumpkin on unofficial visits as well.
