There may not be a more electric name to watch in the 2027 recruiting class than David Gabriel Georges. The five-star running back, originally from Quebec and now suiting up for Baylor School in Chattanooga, has the kind of highlight reel that turns heads-and keeps them turned. He’s explosive, agile, and already looks like he could step into a college backfield tomorrow and make noise.
And make no mistake: Tennessee is firmly in the mix.
Gabriel Georges recently spoke about the Vols and didn’t hold back in his praise. “I feel like Tennessee is building and bringing in top players that will make an immediate impact,” he said. That’s not just a polite nod-it's a signal that the Vols are doing something right on the recruiting trail, especially with in-state stars.
Ranked as the No. 13 overall player in the 2027 class, the No. 2 running back nationally, and the top-ranked recruit in Tennessee according to the 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is a major priority for every program on his list. And that list is elite.
In late December, he narrowed it down to eight schools: Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Texas. It’s a who’s who of college football powerhouses, and the Vols are right there in the thick of it.
He’s been on campus multiple times already, which tells you two things: he’s seriously considering Tennessee, and the staff is making sure he feels the love. That kind of relationship-building matters, especially with a player of his caliber who could be a foundational piece of a class.
Speaking of the 2027 class, Tennessee is off to a solid start. They’ve already secured four commitments-headlined by four-star offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife.
Linebacker JP Peace and cornerback Kamauri Whitfield, both three-stars, round out the early group. It’s still early in the cycle, but the framework is starting to take shape, and adding a five-star back like Gabriel Georges would elevate the entire class.
Looking back at the 2026 cycle, Tennessee’s momentum is real. The Vols brought in 29 total commitments, with 27 signing early and two more locking in just last week.
That haul included three five-stars-quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver TK Keys, and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda. That group finished fifth nationally in the 247 rankings, and it’s clear the staff is building something sustainable.
But there’s one glaring omission from that 2026 class: a running back. Tennessee didn’t land one, which makes the pursuit of Gabriel Georges even more critical. The current room is young-rising sophomore Javin Gordon and second-year backs Daune Morris and Justin Baker are still developing-but there’s a clear need to bring in a top-tier freshman to round out the depth chart and push the competition.
That’s where Gabriel Georges comes in. He’s not just another name on a list-he’s a potential difference-maker.
A player who could come in and change the complexion of the offense. A back with the vision, burst, and power to thrive in the SEC.
And if Tennessee can land him, it won’t just be a recruiting win-it’ll be a statement.
The Vols are building, and recruits like David Gabriel Georges are watching.
