Tennessee’s first injury update for Auburn brings a mixed picture, but the biggest takeaway is what’s missing as much as what’s on it.
The Vols listed starting offensive lineman Shamurad Umarov as questionable Wednesday night, along with defensive lineman Nathan Robinson. Running back Javin Gordon is doubtful. Tennessee also ruled out freshman LEO Kedric Golston II and six others, including fifth-year starting offensive lineman Wendell Moe Jr., who will miss the rest of the season after suffering a lower-body injury against Texas.
What stands out most in the opening SEC availability report is the absence of starting quarterback Faizon Brandon and starting nickel Qua Moss. Brandon left the Texas game favoring his throwing shoulder before coming back in and finishing it, while Moss was shaken up in the fourth quarter and did not return. Neither was available for postgame media because they were receiving treatment, but neither showed up on Wednesday’s report.
Tennessee will release two more availability reports before kickoff, with updates coming Thursday and Friday night. The final pregame report arrives 90 minutes before Saturday’s 3:30 kickoff on ESPN, when the No.
17 Vols host Auburn at Neyland Stadium. The Tigers are coached by former Josh Heupel offensive coordinator Alex Golesh.
Moe’s loss is a major one for Tennessee’s front. He was shaken up on the first drive against Texas and is out for the rest of the year, as GoVols247 confirmed earlier Wednesday night. Umarov, who started at right guard before sliding to left guard after Moe went down, was rolled up on the Vols’ frantic final possession.
Moss, the Kansas State transfer, has been Tennessee’s starting nickel and also took one back for a punt return touchdown against Texas. He left after going low to tackle scrambling Texas quarterback Arch Manning in the second half of the 20-17 loss.
Gordon was already a familiar name on the injury list. He had been questionable going into the Texas game because of a knee injury suffered against Georgia Tech, then was ruled out before kickoff and missed his second straight game.
Robinson’s situation has been lingering too. He was listed as questionable before Texas, went through warmups and was a game-time decision, but never played. The ankle injury that kept him out against Texas also sidelined him for the Kennesaw State game.
Golston, the son of former Georgia and NFL defensive tackle Kedric Golston, has appeared in all four games this season and has two tackles. He played 25 defensive snaps in the Furman and Kennesaw State games and logged 39 snaps on kickoff team and punt-return units across the first four games.
The rest of Tennessee’s out list includes Miami transfer cornerback Jadais Richard, who was hurt during the offseason; starting safety Edrees Farooq and sophomore linebacker Jaedon Harmon, both injured in preseason camp; wide receiver Joakim Dodson, who went down on a kickoff return against Furman; and starting tight end Ethan Davis, who suffered an ACL injury against Georgia Tech.
Backup safety Dylan Lewis is also out.

Josh Dobbs Had Another Sideline Moment Tennessee Fans Will Appreciate
Joshua Dobbs has spent his 10th NFL season doing the sort of little things that tend to endear him to any locker room, and Tennessee fans know the routine by now. The former Volunteers quarterback, now in his first year of a second stint with the Lions, has not appeared in a regular-season game yet, but he did draw attention during a viral sideline moment when he handled a coachs headset by simply moving the microphone to the other side instead of replacing it.
It was a small gesture, but the kind that fits the broader story of Dobbs, who has long been valued for his presence as much as his arm. He turned in a strong preseason for Detroit and remains a veteran backup at age 31, but moments like this are why he still seems to resonate in Knoxville, where efficiency, awareness and a team-first approach have always played well. Tennessee Fans May Want To Notice This Famous-Name QB
The attention around quarterback recruiting in Tennessee already comes with plenty of noise, but Bo Bryan gave people plenty to notice Friday night. The Battle Ground Academy starter and son of country music star Luke Bryan put together a huge showing against Franklin Road Academy, completing 24 of 33 passes for 404 yards and six touchdowns in a win that should only add to his growing profile.
Bryan is already carrying multiple college offers and is ranked as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2027, so performances like this can only help him keep climbing the radar. Luke Bryan was on hand and expressed pride in his son's effort, a reminder that this is becoming one of those names Tennessee fans may want to keep in the back of their minds as the recruiting picture continues to take shape. New Lady Vol Rylie Theuerkauf Already Sounds Built For Tennessee
Official practice for the 2026-27 season has only just begun, but Rylie Theuerkauf is already speaking like a player who knows exactly why she came to Tennessee. The senior guard arrived after stops at Wake Forest and Georgia, and her move brought her back alongside assistant coach Isoken Uzamere and teammate Zhen Craft, two familiar connections in a new setting. There is always an adjustment period with a transfer, especially one who has already lived in more than one program, but Theuerkauf sounded comfortable describing the transition and the work that went into getting settled with the Lady Vols.
What stands out most is how quickly she has bought into the bigger picture around Kim Caldwells team. Theuerkauf talked about chemistry, the gains made over the summer, and the trust she has in Caldwell as Tennessee starts to put its pieces together. For a program that expects newcomers to fit into a demanding standard fast, that matters, and it suggests Theuerkauf may be more than just another veteran guard in the rotation. She already sounds like someone who understands the assignment, even if the real proof will come once the games begin. [Read more 🡒]
