Tennessee basketball has already spent part of its fall building out a busy recruiting calendar, and the latest name on the board is one of the biggest in the class of 2028.
DJ Okoth, a five-star small forward from Bartlett High School just outside of Memphis, will be in Knoxville on October 16 for an unofficial visit, according to Dushawn London. That trip comes in the middle of a three-stop run that also includes Kentucky on October 2 and Vanderbilt on November 14.
The timing lines up with Tennessee’s football game against Alabama, and Nasir Anderson will also be on campus that day.
Okoth is ranked as the No. 17 player in the class, the No. 5 small forward and the No. 1 player from Tennessee on the 247 Composite. He’s listed at 6-foot-6, with a 6-foot-10 wingspan and a playing weight of 180 pounds.
Tennessee’s fall recruiting push has already included visits from class of 2027 point guards Cayden Daughtry and Micah Gordon, along with class of 2028 forward Bentley Lusakueno. Okoth now joins that list as Rick Barnes and his staff continue working early on one of the state’s top prospects.
Other schools that have offered Okoth include Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Memphis and Providence, among others. His recruitment is still in its early stages, so more offers are likely to follow.
Tennessee first offered Okoth in August of 2025, getting involved early even if it wasn’t the first Power program to do so. The Vols made their move with the hope that first impression will matter later.
