Tennessee is bringing a new look to Atlanta on Saturday, and the Vols will do it in the first road game of the season against Georgia Tech.
After opening the year with an orange-and-white uniform against Furman, Tennessee is set to unveil its stormtrooper look for the first time in a game atmosphere. It’s the second uniform debut already this season for the Vols, adding another fresh wrinkle to what is supposed to be a year full of newness.
The white set stands out with orange numbers, an orange logo on the collar, and an orange Adidas mark. Tennessee will also feature an orange First Horizon Bank logo on the uniform after announcing a 10-year deal, with the logo set to appear on each uniform.
Saturday’s matchup also gives Tennessee its first Power 4 test of the season. The Vols are coming off a blowout win over Furman, while Georgia Tech arrives after last Thursday’s game against Colorado.
In that one, former Tennessee defensive back Boo Carter blocked a game-winning field goal attempt, and the Yellow Jackets’ special teams night ended up all over the place. They missed multiple field goals, but they also found the end zone on special teams.
There was some uncertainty about what Georgia Tech would wear at home, since the Yellow Jackets have a habit of using white uniforms in Atlanta, much like LSU does. They did that in their home game against Colorado. This time, though, it appears Georgia Tech will go with its more traditional home look against Tennessee.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EDT, with Tennessee heading into a road test before it reaches its first SEC game of the 2026 season. That one comes at home against Texas, after the Vols also host Kennesaw State.

Sevier County High School is finding a fitting way to carry Dolly Partons legacy onto the field this fall. The school announced that its football players will wear a commemorative helmet sticker for the rest of the 2026 season, a tribute to the East Tennessee icon who graduated from Sevier County in 1964 and remained one of the areas most recognizable figures.
The decal blends Partons signature with a butterfly and a guitar, and it will be placed on the back of the teams helmets as the season continues. Parton died Aug. 25 at age 80, and the gesture gives Sevier County a public way to honor one of its most famous alumni while tying her memory to the program she helped put on the map in her hometown. Joseph Jet Gibbs has suddenly become one of the more interesting wide receiver names on Tennessees recruiting board. The four-star from Haw River, North Carolina, has been verbally committed to South Carolina since July, but that has not stopped a wave of heavyweight programs from pushing for him, with Tennessee among the schools that have recently jumped in with an offer.
The race around Gibbs is a good reminder that early commitments can get complicated fast when the nations biggest programs start applying pressure. Tennessee now finds itself in a battle that also includes Notre Dame, Auburn, Ohio State and Alabama, and the Volunteers will have to make a strong impression if they want any real shot at pulling the No. 302 overall prospect in the 2028 class away from his current pledge.
