Tennessee Football Stuns with Top Spot for Elite Texas Tackle

Tennessee football aims to bolster its 2027 recruiting class with top-ranked offensive tackle Brian Swanson, strengthening its chances among his final eight schools.

Tennessee football is making waves in the recruiting scene, setting its sights on another top-tier offensive lineman. Brian Swanson, a four-star tackle, has included the Vols in his top eight schools. Joining Tennessee on this list are heavyweights like Texas, LSU, Ohio State, SMU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Arizona State.

Swanson, hailing from Dallas, Texas, and playing for South Oak Cliff, stands out as the No. 122 player in his class according to 247Sports. He's also ranked as the No. 17 offensive tackle and the No. 16 player from Texas. At 6-foot-5.5 and 315 pounds, his physical presence is undeniable.

Gabe Brooks from 247Sports recently provided an insightful evaluation of Swanson. Brooks highlighted Swanson's versatility, noting his experience at both tackle and guard, which could serve him well in college.

He praised Swanson as an "above average functional athlete" whose on-field performance surpasses his testing numbers. His strong hands and aggressive drive-blocking style make him a formidable force on the line, with a knack for finding extra work downfield.

Swanson's potential as a high-major multi-year starter is bolstered by his combination of a high floor and ceiling, thanks to his proven track record and physical attributes.

The Vols are off to a promising start in the 2027 recruiting cycle, already securing four commitments. Leading the charge is four-star offensive lineman Princeton Uwaifo, with fellow four-star Kadin Fife also in the mix, though Fife is reportedly re-evaluating after changes in the defensive staff.

Additionally, Tennessee has commitments from three-star quarterback Derrick Baker and legacy linebacker JP Peace. As the offseason progresses, expect more commitments to bolster the Vols' class, setting the stage for an exciting future in Knoxville.
