Tennessee football isn’t slowing down on the recruiting trail, and the latest target drawing serious attention is four-star edge rusher and Oregon commit Cameron Pritchett. The Vols are one of several SEC powerhouses still pushing hard for the 2027 standout, despite his verbal pledge to the Ducks back in June.
Pritchett, a product of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, is a name to know in the early stages of the 2027 cycle. According to 247Sports, he’s the No. 216 overall prospect in the class and the No. 21 edge rusher nationally. He also ranks as the No. 6 player in the state of Alabama - a hotbed for SEC-caliber talent.
Tennessee isn’t alone in trying to flip him. Auburn, LSU, and Florida State are also in the mix, joining the Vols in what’s shaping up to be a high-stakes battle for the explosive edge defender. For now, Pritchett remains committed to Oregon, but with over a year to go until he can officially sign, this recruitment is far from over.
The Vols are already laying the groundwork for a strong 2027 class. They’ve secured four early commitments, headlined by in-state offensive lineman Princeton Uwaifo. Uwaifo, who checks in as the No. 110 overall player in the country, brings size, athleticism, and a four-star pedigree to Tennessee’s future trenches.
Joining him are three-star prospects Kadin Fife (DL), Kamauri Whitfield (CB), and JP Peace (LB). It’s a well-balanced group on both sides of the ball, and while there’s still a long way to go until signing day, the early returns are promising. The class currently ranks No. 13 nationally, per 247Sports - a solid foundation to build on.
Another edge rusher Tennessee is keeping tabs on? Andrew Rogers.
The former Virginia Tech commit reopened his recruitment following the dismissal of Hokies head coach Brent Pry. Rogers is also a high school teammate of Faizon Brandon, the Vols’ five-star quarterback signee in the 2026 class - a connection that could play a role if Tennessee makes a serious push.
Speaking of the 2026 class, Josh Heupel and his staff just wrapped up one of the most impressive hauls in the country. Tennessee’s 2026 signing class finished No. 5 nationally, featuring three five-star signees and a deep crop of high-upside talent across multiple positions. While the Vols did lose out on four-star athlete Legend Bey late in the process, the overall group is still loaded with playmakers who can step in early and compete.
Momentum is clearly on Tennessee’s side right now. With a top-five class already in the books and a strong start to 2027, Heupel and his staff are proving they can not only identify talent but close on it. And as they continue to target elite prospects like Cam Pritchett and Andrew Rogers, it’s clear the Vols aren’t just building for the future - they’re chasing something bigger.
