David Gabriel Georges did not need many touches to make a statement in Baylor’s preseason scrimmage against Buford.
After the Baylor School held the five-star running back out of last week’s preseason scrimmage against Maryville, he got a limited workload this week - and made it count. On his first carry of the preseason, Gabriel Georges ripped off 54 yards for a touchdown.

His second and final carry wasn’t as flashy, but it still showed the kind of force Baylor is working with. Gabriel Georges powered through multiple Buford defenders on a rugged run that turned into a physical finish.

That kind of production against Buford stands out for a reason. MaxPreps has the Georgia school ranked No. 7 nationally entering the 2026 season, while Baylor checks in at No. 12 and is the highest-ranked team in Tennessee. Baylor opens the regular season on Aug. 20 in Chattanooga against Brentwood Academy.
The 6-foot, 200-pound back is the top player in Tennessee’s 2027 recruiting class and committed to the Vols over Ohio State and others late last month.
His junior season was a monster: 1,749 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns on 161 carries, according to MaxPreps. The signature game came in the state semifinals, when he exploded for 431 yards and seven touchdowns in a 56-35 win over rival McCallie.
McCallie had won the previous two Division II-AAA state championship titles. Gabriel Georges helped Baylor get past its biggest rival and win the state championship two weeks later with a win over Brentwood Academy.
As a sophomore, he was quieter by comparison but still posted big numbers, rushing for 1,013 yards and 14 touchdowns on 114 carries. Baylor finished 12-1 that season, with its only loss coming against McCallie in the state championship.
Recruiting services continue to place him among the nation’s elite. 247sports lists Gabriel Georges as a five-star, the No. 12 player in the country, the No. 2 running back nationally and the top prep player in Tennessee in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Rivals is a little lower on him, but still gives him five-star status. That outlet ranks him No. 23 nationally, No. 2 among running backs and No. 1 in Tennessee.
