Tennessee Basketball Makes Final Cut for Sought-After Four-Star Recruit

Tennessee basketball remains firmly in the mix for top-100 big man Cody Peck as the Vols look to round out a pivotal 2026 recruiting class.

Four-star big man Cody Peck is narrowing his focus, and Tennessee basketball is still in the mix. Peck, a top-105 national recruit in the 2026 class, announced his final four schools: Tennessee, Creighton, Dayton, and Miami.

The Charlotte native made his official visit to Knoxville back in the fall, lining it up with a marquee football weekend when the Vols hosted Oklahoma at Neyland Stadium. It was one of the final recruiting weekends of the fall for Tennessee hoops, and while Peck didn’t commit during the early signing period, that visit clearly left an impression.

“It was amazing,” Peck said after the trip. “Just getting to learn more about the coaches personally.

Seeing campus more in depth is incredible. The environment at the football game was crazy.

I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

Peck has been making the rounds. Along with his Tennessee visit, he’s been to Dayton officially and recently wrapped up trips to both Creighton and Miami. Each program brings a different pitch to the table, but his recruitment is shaping up to be a competitive one.

Ranked No. 105 nationally by the 247Sports Composite and No. 12 among centers, Peck is considered one of the top prospects in North Carolina - No. 2 in the state for the 2026 cycle. 247Sports’ in-house rankings are even higher on him, slotting him at No. 82 overall. At 6-foot-9 with a developing offensive skillset and strong rebounding instincts, Peck has the tools to be an impact player at the next level.

As for Tennessee, the Vols already put together a solid early haul in the 2026 class. They signed four-star wings Ralph Scott and Manny Green, plus three-star point guard Marquis Clark. That group currently ranks No. 21 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC, according to 247Sports’ team rankings.

With a mostly full class, Tennessee is expected to lean on the transfer portal to round out its roster after the season. But there’s still room for a player like Peck - especially with some major roster turnover looming.

The Vols are set to lose seniors Felix Okpara, Ja’Kobi Gillespie, Amaree Abram, and Grant Hurst to graduation. Nate Ament is widely expected to declare for the NBA Draft, and additional departures via the portal wouldn’t be a surprise.

Peck remains the only uncommitted prospect who’s taken an official visit to Tennessee. Former Alabama commit Chris Washington had planned a visit in January, but weather delays forced a postponement.

So while the Vols haven’t appeared to go all-in on Peck just yet, the door remains open. And if the coaching staff decides to make a late push, there’s already a foundation in place. Peck’s recruitment isn’t over - but Tennessee’s still got a seat at the table.
