Tennessee Awaits A Huge 2028 QB Decision That Could Spark Its Class

Get ready to tune in on August 17 as top QB prospect Kaden Craft reveals which college will benefit most from his game-changing talent.

Kaden Craft’s commitment day is here, and the Tennessee Volunteers are waiting to see whether their top quarterback target in the class of 2028 will land in Knoxville.

Craft is set to announce his decision on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, at Lake Norman High School in North Carolina, with the reveal scheduled for 4:00 PM EDT. Fans will be able to watch it live through Rivals on YouTube.

The ceremony is expected to feature multiple hats, and Craft’s final group reflects just how heavily pursued he’s been. Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Michigan and Oregon are all in the mix, and each program is hoping to come away with the quarterback who has drawn so much attention around the country.

Among that group, Tennessee and Oregon are still searching for their first commitment in the class of 2028. Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Michigan already have at least one pledge, but none of those schools has landed a quarterback yet, which makes Craft’s announcement especially significant for all six programs.

That’s the nature of quarterback recruiting: once a school secures its guy, everything can start moving faster. Programs often don’t take more than one at the position, and landing an early commitment from a top passer can shape the rest of a class in a hurry.

For Tennessee, that’s why Monday carries real weight. If Craft picks the Vols, it would give their recruiting class a major jolt and answer a huge question at the most important position on the board.

Tennessee Made A Classy Off-Field Move Fans Will Appreciate

Tennessees switch from Nike to Adidas is more than a branding change for the Volunteers. After 10 seasons with Nike, the school moved on to a new official uniform and merchandise partner, and in the process found a practical way to give its old football gear a second life. Much of the previous equipment, including jerseys, pants and shoes, was donated to Carson-Newman, keeping a big chunk of it right here in East Tennessee.

Carson-Newman players have already been seen wearing the hand-me-down gear, which gives the move a nice local twist for fans who like seeing the program connected to the community. It is the kind of off-field gesture that does not change what happens on Saturdays in Knoxville, but it does say something about how the university handled the transition and where some of that old Tennessee equipment ended up. Nico Iamaleava Just Gave Tennessee Fans A Surprising Leadership Reflection

Nico Iamaleavas path has already taken a sharp turn from where Tennessee fans first knew him. He spent 2023 behind Joe Milton III, then opened the 2024 season as the Vols starting quarterback before moving on to UCLA in 2025 after disputes and missed practices changed the course of his time in Knoxville.

What makes his latest leadership reflection stand out is the backdrop around him now. UCLA has gone through a difficult season that ended with DeShaun Fosters firing, while Tennessee has kept moving forward with Joey Aguilar running the offense under Josh Heupel. For Vols fans, it is another reminder of how much can change in a year, and how Iamaleavas story still hangs over both programs in different ways. [Read more 🡒]
