Peyton Manning Is Suddenly Part Of A Colts Twist Tennessee Fans Noticed

Could Peyton Manning transition from legendary quarterback to front office leader as the Colts eye him for their GM role?

Peyton Manning has been pulled into the Colts’ search for a new general manager, and Dan Patrick says the team has already reached out to see whether the former quarterback would have interest in the job.

On Monday’s edition of The Dan Patrick Show, Patrick said he read a text message that indicated Indianapolis’ call to Manning was more than a request for suggestions. According to Patrick, the Colts also wanted to know whether Manning might be willing to step into the vacancy created when the team fired GM Chris Ballard after Sunday’s home loss to the Tennessee Titans.

That loss hit hard because Tennessee had not won a game this season before going into Indianapolis and walking out with a 26-20 victory. The Titans trailed 13-0 at halftime, but the Colts still came away as the losers, dropping to 2-4 and prompting a front-office change. In a statement, team owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon said Ballard’s firing was necessary to meet the Colts’ standard.

With Ballard out, the search for his replacement is now underway. Patrick said he believes Manning is at the front of that line, with the former Colts quarterback - the same player who helped deliver Super Bowl glory and multiple playoff trips - emerging as the first name tied to the opening.

“The Colts’ fist call will be/has been to Peyton Manning,” Patrick read aloud during his show, adding that the Colts would potentially be including some ownership stake in the team with a potential GM role.

For the rest of the season, the Colts have handed assistant GM Ed Dodds control of the personnel department.

Ballard had been in his 10th season with the franchise and was working in the final year of his contract.

The Colts’ latest defeat also leaves them in an early hole in the AFC South.

Josh Heupel Made Sure Tennessee Didn't Forget What Awaits At South Carolina

Josh Heupel made sure Tennessees trip to South Carolina has not been treated like just another SEC road game. Before the Vols head to Columbia, he brought up the sting of last seasons loss there and the way the night unraveled with Hendon Hooker getting hurt, a reminder of how quickly one tough visit can change a seasons feel.

The roster looks a lot different now, with only four current players having been part of the 2022 team and none of them carrying major roles at the time. Heupels point was clear: the atmosphere will be difficult, and Tennessee will need to show up fully ready physically, mentally and emotionally if it wants a better outcome this time. [Read more 🡒]

Tennessee Still Has One Big QB Decision Before South Carolina

George MacIntyre has given Tennessee a timely jolt at quarterback, stepping in to start the past two games and helping the Vols to consecutive wins, including the upset of No. 6 Alabama. With the offense finding some traction under the sophomore, the position suddenly looks less unsettled than it did a couple of weeks ago, even as the Vols prepare for another SEC test.

Still, Josh Heupel has not committed to a definitive starter for South Carolina, leaving one of the most important decisions on the roster unresolved. Faizon Brandon, who opened the season as the starter for the first five games, has been dealing with a shoulder injury and has not played recently, so Tennessees quarterback picture remains fluid heading into the next game. Dalton Knecht Just Got A Fresh Chance Vols Fans Should Watch

Dalton Knechts NBA path just took another turn, and for Tennessee fans it is a reminder of how quickly a former Volunteer can move from promising rookie to roster uncertainty. The Los Angeles Lakers have decided to release the forward after two seasons, ending a stint that had already featured a failed trade attempt to the Charlotte Hornets before he ever got settled into a new role.

Knechts playing time and production dipped in his second year, leaving him with a fresh chance to reset somewhere else. For Vols fans, the next stop will be worth watching closely, because it will show whether a change of scenery can help him regain the momentum he showed earlier in his pro career. [Read more 🡒]
