Ory Williams Stuns Fans With Bold Move to Tennessee Football

Ory Williams outlines his strategic move to Tennessee, aiming to fortify their offensive line while adapting to a new role and praising the coaching staff's expertise.

In the wake of Lance Heard's departure, Tennessee football faced the challenge of filling a key position on their offensive line. The solution?

Shifting David Sanders Jr. from right to left tackle, creating an opportunity on the right side. Enter Ory Williams, a promising addition from the transfer portal.

Williams, who showcased his skills as a left tackle at LSU, is now testing the waters at right tackle during Tennessee's spring camp. If he continues to impress through preseason, he could secure the starting spot as a redshirt sophomore.

But why did Williams choose Tennessee? His decision was influenced by a desire to remain in the SEC and the dynamic coaching duo of Coach Elarbee and Coach Heupel.

"Honestly, I wanted to stay in the SEC," Williams explained. "It's the best conference in the country.

The way Coach Elarbee can teach me things and the way Coach Heupel, them two, work together, I really love that and I feel like it can take me to the next level."

With four spring practices under his belt, Williams is adjusting to the new playbook-often the toughest hurdle for newcomers. Standing at an imposing 6-foot-8 and 330 pounds, his physical presence is undeniable.

"It's been good," Williams shared. "Just taking it one day at a time.

I’m still adjusting, playbook and everything. But it’s going good.

That extra work is paying off. Not too many missed assignments, so we’re just taking it one day at a time."

Jesse Perry is also in the mix for the right tackle position, though his versatility might see him finding a home at guard instead. As the Vols continue to shape their lineup, the competition remains fierce, promising an exciting season ahead.
