Nick Reveiz, a former Tennessee football captain and Knoxville native, is stepping into the role of defensive coordinator at Western Carolina. This announcement marks an exciting new chapter for Reveiz, who has a rich history both on and off the field.
Reveiz's journey began at Farragut, where he joined the Tennessee Volunteers as a walk-on before earning a scholarship. Over his college career from 2006 to 2010, he became a defensive powerhouse, racking up 168 tackles, including 81 solo and 10.5 tackles for loss.
By his final two seasons, Reveiz was not only a starter but also a team captain, a testament to his leadership and skill. His academic prowess was evident too, as he was named to the Academic All-SEC team three consecutive years from 2007 to 2009.
After college, Reveiz caught the eye of the NFL, landing a spot on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' preseason roster in 2011, where he showcased his versatility by playing both linebacker and fullback. His coaching career began with a stint as a graduate assistant at Carson-Newman, focusing on linebackers and later running backs.
Reveiz's coaching journey took him to Albany State in 2017, where he served as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach until 2021. His first role as a defensive coordinator came in 2022 at VMI, followed by a successful tenure at Charleston Southern.
Under his leadership, CSU's defense was formidable, allowing just 24 points per game and ranking 34th in the FCS in 2025. His defense also excelled in creating turnovers, forcing 24 fumbles and ranking eighth in fourth-down defense.
Now at Western Carolina, Reveiz brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of defensive excellence. His journey from walk-on to captain, and now to a key coaching role, is a testament to his dedication and expertise in the game.
