With the Vols moving into their first year under the new Adidas contract after a recent run with Nike, the Lady Vols unveiled a new kit ahead of Thursday’s opener against Rutgers in Knoxville. That matchup is set for 7:00 PM EDT, and while the game is already drawing attention, the jersey reveal has created its own buzz.
The biggest change is the checkerboard design. Unlike the original Adidas kits that were introduced earlier, this version leans into the orange-and-white checker pattern Tennessee has used across nearly every sport. The base is white, the checker pattern adds the orange, and the look pushes the Tennessee identity well beyond just football or basketball.
The shorts will be white as well, matching the top. That detail makes sense with the jersey’s white base, though it was still a surprise because fans didn’t know whether this would end up being a standard kit for the team.
