Tennessee women’s basketball is set to get an important look this weekend as Kim Caldwell continues building toward her third year in Knoxville.
Five-star point guard Cece Dennis is scheduled to take an official visit to Rocky Top, giving the Lady Vols a shot at one of the top guards in the 2027 class. Dennis is trimming her list, and Tennessee is among the programs in the mix with Georgia, Clemson, Auburn and Florida State also in her group of finalists.
Dennis brings a strong national profile into the visit. On the 247 Composite, she is ranked No. 29 overall, No. 3 among point guards and No. 1 in Georgia. 247’s own rankings are even higher on her individually, slotting her at No. 17 nationally, though not yet at five-star status.
The Creekside High School standout is from Fairburn, Georgia, and plays the point at 5-foot-6. Her game has drawn plenty of attention from evaluators.
“Dennis has emerged as one of the nation’s premier Point Guard options,” 247 director of women’s basketball scouting Brandon Clay wrote. “She was fantastic during the Overtime Select League leading her team to a championship as a result.
Dennis went toe-to-toe with classmate Kaleena Smith proving that she belongs in the discussion at the top of the class. She has range on her jump shot, will attack off the bounce and plays hard on the defensive end of the floor as well…”
Dennis did miss significant time last season after suffering a knee injury in November, but the expectation is that a healthy year could help her solidify an even stronger standing in the 2027 recruiting class.
Tennessee still does not have a commitment in the 2027 cycle. In the 2026 class, the Lady Vols signed four-star Gabby Minus and international guard Irene Oboavwoduo, while five-star Oliviyah Edwards initially signed before asking for a release and ultimately landing at South Carolina.
