Tennessee basketball is gearing up to lean on its frontcourt depth once again. Redshirt sophomore J.P.
Estrella has been sidelined for the Vols' SEC clash against Oklahoma on February 18th at the Food City Center. Estrella is dealing with left foot soreness and is considered day-to-day.
With Estrella out, DeWayne Brown II might step up as a starter. Brown filled in admirably when Felix Okpara was recovering from a calf injury, showcasing his ability to handle the pressure.
Estrella's left foot has given him trouble before. Back in the 2024-25 season, he played only three games before undergoing season-ending surgery. While this current issue isn't deemed serious, the team is opting for caution, as noted by a UT spokesperson.
This marks the third game Estrella will miss this season. He previously sat out against Tennessee State in November due to a bone bruise in his left knee and missed the Syracuse game in December with a right ankle injury. Over the summer, he also dealt with another ankle issue, adding to his list of setbacks.
