Jermod McCoy Predicts All-America Glory for Young Vols Talent

Former Tennessee standout Jermod McCoy foresees a breakout All-American season for rising star Ty Redmond, as the Vols aim for SEC glory in 2026.

Jermod McCoy, the former Tennessee cornerback, is placing high hopes on Ty Redmond's future, and he’s not shy about it. Speaking at the NFL Combine, McCoy confidently predicted that Redmond, heading into his sophomore season in 2026, has All-America potential.

“Ty’s going to be an All-American next year for sure,” McCoy asserted. “After the year he had, he learned a lot from me and Colton [Hood]. So next year is for sure his year.”

McCoy didn’t just stop at predictions; he praised Redmond's impressive size and skill set, which he believes will propel Redmond to new heights in 2026.

The Tennessee Volunteers are certainly hoping McCoy's forecast comes to fruition. With aspirations of making a significant leap on defense, the Vols are eyeing a run at the SEC Championship next fall. According to the latest odds from Kalshi, Tennessee stands with a 10% chance to clinch the SEC title in 2026.

Initially, McCoy and Rickey Gibson were slated to be Tennessee’s cornerbacks in 2025, but injuries reshuffled the deck, thrusting Hood and Redmond into prominent roles. Hood shone brightly and is now projected to be a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, alongside McCoy.

Redmond, meanwhile, logged 448 pass snaps as a true freshman, the most of any Tennessee cornerback, earning a stellar 81.6 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus. This performance sets a promising stage for what could be a breakout season in 2026.
