Jauan Jennings Scores Twice As 49ers Take Down Struggling Tennessee Team

A former Tennessee standout made his mark against his old team, delivering a standout performance in San Francisco's Week 15 win.

The 49ers kept their momentum rolling in Week 15, notching a 37-24 win over Tennessee at Levi’s Stadium to improve to 10-4 on the season. And while San Francisco’s offense had no trouble putting points on the board, one of the standout stories was the performance of wide receiver Jauan Jennings - a player who’s made a habit of stepping up when it matters most.

Jennings hauled in three catches for 37 yards on five targets, but it was the two touchdowns that turned heads. Both scores came in key moments, showcasing the physicality and toughness that have defined his game since his college days. He’s not the flashiest wideout on the roster, but he’s the kind of player who makes the most of his opportunities - and Sunday was a perfect example.

Through 12 games this season, Jennings has quietly put together a solid campaign with 41 receptions, 458 yards, and five touchdowns. He’s carved out a reliable role in a loaded 49ers offense that features stars at nearly every skill position. And while he may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of San Francisco’s offensive threats, his ability to produce in the red zone and on third downs gives this unit another layer of versatility.

Looking at the bigger picture, Jennings' journey to this point speaks volumes. Drafted in the seventh round back in 2020 - pick No. 217 overall - he entered the league with something to prove.

And he’s done just that, stacking up 196 career receptions for 2,396 yards and 18 touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who had to fight his way onto the roster.

Before the NFL, Jennings made his mark at Tennessee from 2015 to 2019, playing under Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt. He appeared in 48 games for the Vols, tallying 146 catches for 2,153 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also chipped in 93 rushing yards and a score on 25 carries, showcasing a bit of that do-it-all mentality that’s carried over into his pro career.

Next up for the 49ers is a primetime matchup on Dec. 22 in Indianapolis, with kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium.

ESPN will carry the broadcast, and San Francisco will be looking to keep the pressure on in the NFC playoff race. With Jennings continuing to make the most of his chances, the 49ers’ offense looks as deep and dangerous as ever.
