Ja’Kobi Gillespie kept rolling in NBA 2K Summer League on Saturday, turning in the kind of all-around line that jumps off the page in a 70-49 Spurs win over the New York Knicks.
Gillespie logged a team-high 24 minutes and made the most of them, finishing with 14 points on 6-for-14 shooting and 2-for-6 from beyond the arc. He also chipped in five rebounds, five assists and two steals while committing just one turnover. His plus/minus sat at plus-15, the best mark posted by either side in the game.

Saturday’s performance came in Gillespie’s second game in the Vegas portion of Summer League. In San Antonio’s opening matchup against the Hawks, the former Vol started and scored 12 points on 5-for-13 shooting, including 2-for-6 from three, in 23 minutes. He added three rebounds, six assists and one turnover in that one.
Gillespie is one of three former Tennessee players on the Spurs’ Summer League roster this month, joining Zakai Zeigler and Igor Milicic. Zeigler is averaging 5.5 minutes, 1.0 points, 0.5 rebounds and 1 assist per game, while Milicic is putting up 9.5 minutes, 3.5 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
His one season at Tennessee still left a mark. Gillespie averaged 18.4 points, 5.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds, earned All-SEC honors and helped lead Tennessee back to the Elite Eight for a third straight season.
Next up, Gillespie has a familiar face waiting. The Bucks play Sunday night at 9 ET on ESPN, and he’ll go against former teammate Nate Ament.
