The NFL season is back, and Tennessee fans won’t have to look far to find familiar faces scattered across the league.
A total of 37 former Vols are set to be on NFL rosters this season, giving the program a wide footprint as the 2026 campaign gets underway. None of them will be on the field for Wednesday night’s Super Bowl rematch between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, but plenty of Tennessee alums are still positioned to make an impact elsewhere.
The largest group is on active rosters, where 21 former Tennessee players open the year. That list includes longtime veterans like DE Derek Barnett with the Browns, LS Morgan Cox with the Titans, QB Joshua Dobbs with the Lions and RB Alvin Kamara with the Saints.
Trey Smith remains with the Chiefs, Josh Palmer is with the Bills, and Darnell Wright is on the Bears. Byron Young is back with the Rams, while Alontae Taylor is with the Titans and Shy Tuttle is with the Commanders.
The active roster group also features a wave of younger Vols beginning or early in their careers. Bryson Eason is with the Chiefs, Colton Hood with the Giants, Joshua Josephs with the Commanders, Jermod McCoy with the Raiders and Dylan Sampson with the Browns.
Jaylen Wright is with the Dolphins, Jaylen McCollough is with the Rams, and Theo Jackson and Jauan Jennings are both with the Vikings. Kamal Hadden is on the Packers, Elijah Simmons is with the Buccaneers, and the Bears are carrying OT Darnell Wright.
Tennessee’s presence doesn’t stop there. Ten more former Vols are on practice squads, including Joey Aguilar with the Jaguars, Hendon Hooker with the Titans, Jalin Hyatt with the Giants, Joe Milton III with the Cowboys and Cedric Tillman with the Saints. Velus Jones Jr. is with the Seahawks, while Jalen McMurray is with the Titans, Jabari Small is with the Lions and Tyre West is also with the Lions.
Another six former Tennessee players are listed on injured reserve or reserve/NFI: Chris Brazzell II with the Panthers, Princeton Fant with the Cowboys, Cade Mays with the Lions, Omarr Norman-Lott with the Chiefs, James Pearce Jr. with the Falcons and Dont’e Thornton Jr. with the Raiders.

Dolly Partons Own High School Found A Powerful Way To Honor Her
Sevier County High School is finding a fitting way to carry Dolly Partons legacy onto the field this fall. The school announced that its football players will wear a commemorative helmet sticker for the rest of the 2026 season, a tribute to the East Tennessee icon who graduated from Sevier County in 1964 and remained one of the areas most recognizable figures.
The decal blends Partons signature with a butterfly and a guitar, and it will be placed on the back of the teams helmets as the season continues. Parton died Aug. 25 at age 80, and the gesture gives Sevier County a public way to honor one of its most famous alumni while tying her memory to the program she helped put on the map in her hometown. Joseph Jet Gibbs has suddenly become one of the more interesting wide receiver names on Tennessees recruiting board. The four-star from Haw River, North Carolina, has been verbally committed to South Carolina since July, but that has not stopped a wave of heavyweight programs from pushing for him, with Tennessee among the schools that have recently jumped in with an offer.
The race around Gibbs is a good reminder that early commitments can get complicated fast when the nations biggest programs start applying pressure.
