Tyreke Key made the most of his latest NBA Summer League run on Saturday, giving Toronto a big scoring lift off the bench in a 102-89 win over the Rockets in Las Vegas.
The former Tennessee guard finished with 19 points in just 18 minutes, the second-highest total in the game. He was efficient, too, knocking down four of six shots and going 3-for-4 from three-point range.
Key came out hot and piled up 13 points in the first half alone. He added two rebounds, one steal, one block, and one turnover.
That performance came after a quieter showing in Toronto’s first Summer League game against the Celtics. In that one, Key scored six points in 16 minutes off the bench, shooting 2-for-6 from the field and 1-for-3 from deep. He also finished with two rebounds, one assist, and three turnovers.
Key’s path to this point has taken him from Indiana State to Tennessee and then into the pro ranks. He spent his first four college seasons at Indiana State before transferring to Tennessee for the 2022-2023 campaign, where he was part of the Volunteers’ Sweet 16 team.
In 33 games with Tennessee, including 15 starts, he averaged 8.2 points, 1.3 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game. He also helped Tennessee beat Louisiana and Duke in the 2023 NCAA Tournament before the Vols lost to Florida Atlantic in the Sweet 16.
His best scoring night in a Tennessee uniform came in February 2023, when he scored 23 points in a buzzer-beater loss to Missouri at home.
After going undrafted, Key signed with Leuven Bears in Belgium before later landing an Exhibit-10 deal with the Toronto Raptors last September. He spent most of the season with Raptors 905, then appeared in the final four games of the 2026 season with Toronto.
