Arch Manning didn’t hide his excitement when the topic turned to David Gabriel-Georges.
The Tennessee football commit was coming off a memorable showing on ESPN 2, and that performance had plenty of people paying attention. Manning was among them, tuning in to watch his family member, Peyton Manning’s son, Marshall Manning, while also taking notice of what Gabriel-Georges has been doing at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

"I'm fired up for him (Marshall Manning). He is at a really good school (Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee); they have a really good running back (David Gabriel-Georges).
He looks yoked. What are they feeding those guys," Manning asked.
The praise fits the way Gabriel-Georges has been viewed on the high school scene. He’s a five-star running back and one of the most talked-about players at his position, even if he is somehow not ranked as the nation’s top running back. What he has built, though, is the reputation of a rare physical specimen.
He’s been described as a high school freak of nature because of the way speed and size come together in his game. He’s said to run in the 4.3s and is measured at at least 220 pounds, a combination that has made him one of the most recognizable players in the country.
The accolades back that up. Gabriel-Georges has won two Mr Football Awards in Tennessee and was named the MaxPreps Player of the Year, all while being in only his third season in the United States.
That journey started in Canada, where he was born and raised before making the move to the U.S. After his Canadian season, he transferred and became the backup to Shekai Mills-Knight, who is now at Ole Miss. From there, Gabriel-Georges quickly climbed into a split-starter role and started drawing heavy attention from programs around the country.
Tennessee was one of the schools that pursued him aggressively from the beginning, and now the Volunteers have him as a commit.
For Josh Heupel, it stands as one of the biggest recruiting wins of his career. And after hearing Arch Manning talk about Gabriel-Georges the way he did, it’s easy to see why the running back has become such a major name in college football recruiting circles.
