The Texans added another familiar name to their practice squad on Monday, signing defensive tackle Dominic Bailey after waiving him at the 53-man roster deadline on Sunday.
Bailey’s time in Houston comes after a long run at Tennessee, where he played from 2020-25 and built a steady résumé across 55 games with 25 starts. During that stretch, he piled up 77 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, one pass deflection, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
Houston is coming off a preseason in which it did not win a game, dropping contests to the Chargers, Raiders and Panthers. The Texans now turn to the regular season, opening Sept. 13 against Buffalo.
That game is set for 1 p.m. EDT at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas and will air on CBS.
Bailey’s move is part of a wider wave of post-preseason NFL roster activity involving former Vols as teams sort through cuts and practice squad spots ahead of the 2026 season.
Among the former Tennessee players on the move, William Wright was waived by the Chicago Bears, Joe Milton III was waived by the Dallas Cowboys, McCallan Castles was waived by the Green Bay Packers, and Jerome Carvin was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tyre West was waived by the Detroit Lions and later signed to their practice squad, while Joey Aguilar followed the same path with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hendon Hooker and Jalen McMurray were waived by the Tennessee Titans and then signed to the practice squad, and Jalin Hyatt was waived by the New York Giants as a practice squad veteran.
Elsewhere, Jaxson Moi was waived by the Los Angeles Rams and Bryson Eason was waived by the San Francisco 49ers. Matthew Butler was released by the Miami Dolphins, Velus Jones Jr. was terminated by the Seattle Seahawks as a vested veteran, and Shy Tuttle was released by the Washington Commanders.
Two former Vols landed on injured or reserve lists: James Pearce Jr. was placed on reserved/suspended by the Atlanta Falcons, Cade Mays went to reserve/injured with the Detroit Lions, and Omarr Norman-Lott was placed on reserve/PUP with the Kansas City Chiefs.
