Will Levis’ NFL future isn’t finished yet, and a small opening in Titans camp may have given him a shot to keep it that way.
The former Kentucky quarterback had been trending toward a tough end to training camp after struggling to stand out as Tennessee’s third-string option. With roster cutdown day closing in, a release seemed like a real possibility. But a sudden change at practice shifted the picture.
Mitch Trubisky left practice early after dealing with a biceps issue in his throwing arm, opening up second-team reps for Levis during important drills. Robert Saleh addressed the situation by saying, “Trubisky’s getting looked at for his bicep. I think we’re good, but again, I’m the eternal optimist, so I’ll let you guys know tomorrow,” Robert Saleh said.
That gave Levis another chance to work in front of coaches, including during the two-minute period on Monday. Those reps came with better talent around him than the third-team work he had been getting earlier in camp, and the timing matters with roster cuts set for the end of the month.
Levis has already taken a long detour to get here. After being one of the bigger stories of the 2023 NFL Draft, he slid out of the first round despite being projected by mock drafts and analysts as a possible top-five or top-10 pick. He wound up waiting in the green room on night one before the Titans took him 33rd overall.
His NFL path has been uneven since then. In 2024, he battled high turnover numbers and went 1-10 before being benched for Mason Rudolph. He did not play at all in 2025 after choosing to have major surgery on his right, throwing shoulder, so there was no tape for him to build on last season.
The last time Levis played in a game was in 2024, when he appeared in 12 contests for Tennessee and threw for 2,091 yards with 13 touchdown passes, 12 interceptions and an 81.4 passer rating.
For now, the door is still open. And with one more chance to make an impression, Levis can at least try to turn a camp setback into a roster lifeline.
