The Tennessee Titans are dealing with a jarring bit of roster drama just days after landing their first win of the 2026 season and the first victory of the Robert Saleh era, a 26-20 upset of the Indianapolis Colts in Indianapolis.
On Tuesday, the team announced it had released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott after reviewing an incident that took place at the team facility on Thursday. The Titans made the move in a statement shared through team reporter Jim Wyatt.
"On Thursday, Oct. 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott.
Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter."
The team did not say what happened, and there was no indication that more details would be made public.
Elliott had appeared in all five games this season, starting one of them, and logged 11 tackles. He came to Tennessee after following Saleh from the San Francisco 49ers, where he spent the previous two seasons and made 29 starts in 31 games played.
His departure isn’t the only odd wrinkle surrounding the Titans right now. In Week 6, starting cornerback and $58 million free-agent addition Alontae Taylor was inactive against the Colts and, according to the report, didn’t just sit out - he was also stripped of his uniform. That decision was described as a coach’s decision, and Saleh has not offered an explanation.
"We'll discuss it as a staff and make a decision that is best for the team moving forward," Saleh told reporters on Monday.
Now Tennessee shifts back home, where it will face the 4-2 Cleveland Browns, who lead the AFC North.

Titans Suddenly Have A New Defensive Spotlight After Abrupt Roster Move
The Titans made a sudden change on the defensive front after releasing Jordan Elliott following an investigation into an unspecified incident at their facility. Elliott, who was signed in free agency this offseason, had quickly become a regular part of Tennessees interior rotation and was the teams third-most used interior defender before the move.
His departure shifts attention to Nazir Stackhouse, who is now expected to take on a larger role in the middle of the defense. For a Titans unit trying to settle its rotation, the change adds another layer of uncertainty up front and puts more responsibility on a young nose tackle to help fill the gap. [Read more 🡒]
Titans Chaos Just Raised Another Question Fans Can't Ignore
The Titans off-field turbulence took another turn this week with a sweeping front-office shakeup that reached into the business side of the organization. Tennessee said it fired senior vice president and chief revenue officer Adam Nuse, vice president of creative Charles Jensen and senior vice president of brand marketing Erin Swartz, a notable reset at a time when the franchise is already under a harsher spotlight than it wants.
Jordan Elliotts release only added to the sense that things are unsettled in Nashville. The defensive lineman was let go after an undisclosed incident at the team facility, and the Titans have offered no additional comment on what led to the decision, leaving one more unanswered question hanging over a team that suddenly seems to be dealing with them everywhere. Titans Suddenly Cut Jordan Elliott And Fans Want To Know Why
The Titans moved on from Jordan Elliott after an incident at the teams practice facility on Oct. 15, a sudden turn for a player who had only recently signed a two-year deal. Tennessee confirmed the release after reviewing what happened, but offered no further explanation, leaving plenty of questions around a roster move that arrived without much warning.
Elliott had appeared in five games this season, so the departure catches the eye not just because of the timing, but because of how quickly the Titans chose to end the partnership. For a team trying to stabilize its defensive front, the details behind the decision now matter almost as much as the decision itself. [Read more 🡒]
