Tennessee’s search for help on the interior of the offensive line is still moving.
On Tuesday, Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi spoke with reporters and said he liked where the roster stood heading into training camp. The biggest job battle, he said, is centered on center and right guard, where the competition is already taking shape.
Austin Schlottmann and Cordell Volson are set to get the first opportunity to win those spots, but they won’t have a clean path. Pat Coogan and Jackson Slater are also in the mix, and Borgonzi made it clear those jobs will be contested early in camp.
That wasn’t the end of the story. During the press conference with head coach Robert Saleh, Borgonzi also pointed to possible additions on the interior, and the Titans followed through by working out two more guards on Wednesday: Oregon State’s Joshua Gray and Northern Iowa’s Jared Penning.
Gray has no NFL game experience, but he did spend 2025 with the Atlanta Falcons on their practice squad after going undrafted out of Oregon State. The 6-foot-5, 299-pound guard later signed a reserve/futures contract with the Carolina Panthers before being waived in July ahead of training camp.
Penning’s path was similar. He spent his rookie season on the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad after going undrafted out of Northern Iowa in 2025. He re-signed a reserve/futures contract with Baltimore in January and was waived earlier in July.
Tennessee did not sign either player, but the workouts make the team’s intent pretty clear: the Titans are still trying to strengthen the competition up front.

A closed walkthrough at Titans camp came with a little extra roster housekeeping, as Tennessee brought in six players for workouts and took another look at the bottom of the depth chart. The group included Romello Brinson, Gary Bryant and Devin Voisin at wide receiver, along with tight ends Louis Hansen and Matt Lauter, giving the staff a chance to check on some experienced college pass-catchers who are still looking for an NFL foothold.
Clayton Tune was part of the same group, and his presence stood out because the 26-year-old quarterback has already been through a bit of the leagues grinder after being drafted by the Cardinals in 2023 and spending time on the Packers practice squad. For the Titans, a workout list like this usually says as much about training camp practicality as anything else, but it also hints at how closely the team is monitoring its depth and keeping options available as camp moves on. Peter Skoronski Just Became A Bigger Priority For The Titans
The Titans have shifted some of their attention to Peter Skoronski after locking up Jeffery Simmons, and the timing makes sense. With the market for interior offensive linemen climbing, Tennessee has reason to get ahead of the curve on a player it views as part of the long-term core, especially after the recent buzz around new deals at the position around the league.
