Titans Release Jordan Elliott After Frightening Incident At Team Facility

Titans Head Coach Robert Saleh calls for empathy and understanding as he defends Jordan Elliott's character following a tense altercation involving a firearm.

The Tennessee Titans moved on from Jordan Elliott on Tuesday after what the team called an unexplained incident at its facilities last week, and the details that surfaced painted a frightening picture.

Multiple reports said the veteran defensive tackle left the practice field after an altercation with offensive tackle JC Latham last Thursday, went to the parking lot, and retrieved a gun from his car. Veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers stepped in and talked him down, and nobody was hurt.

On Wednesday, Titans head coach Robert Saleh defended Elliott’s character while addressing the situation with reporters, framing it as more than a simple on-field flare-up.

"This is a man who's a father, a great husband - he's never committed a crime in his entire life. He pulled a gun in the parking lot," Saleh said.

"Why would a great man, a great father, a man who shows up on time every day, works his ass off every day, contributes the way he's supposed to contribute, is well liked in the locker room - why did he go off the rails and grab a gun? To me, those are small signs of a cry for help.

Saleh continued by saying, “These kids go through a lot. I will stand on the table for Jordan’s character," Saleh added.

"My message to 31 other teams: If you need a hell of a run-stopping DT that can help for a playoff run, give me a call. I'll tell you everything you need to know about him.

He’s a good man. Had a terrible lapse in judgment.”

The Titans are set to play the Cleveland Browns in a Week 7 game on Sunday.

Robert Salehs Public Plea After Titans Release Will Turn Heads

The Titans decision to release defensive tackle Jordan Elliott after a firearm-related incident at the team facility quickly turned into more than just another roster move. It also drew a rare public response from head coach Robert Saleh, who characterized the episode as a lapse in judgment while also suggesting it may have been a cry for help. For a team trying to move forward, the situation underscored how quickly an off-field matter can reshape the conversation around a player and the organization.

Saleh went a step further by urging other NFL teams to think about giving Elliott another chance, a notable show of support at a moment when the league is still reviewing the incident. Elliotts next step is unclear, and his future in the NFL now hinges on how teams weigh the seriousness of what happened against the possibility of a second opportunity. [Read more 🡒]

Titans Suddenly Have A Big Alontae Taylor Decision Looming

Alontae Taylors Week 6 status was a notable one for the Titans, even before the rest of the league started thinking ahead to the NFL trade deadline. Robert Saleh made the coaching decision to keep the cornerback a healthy inactive, a move that immediately added another layer to a situation already worth monitoring in Tennessee.

Now the broader picture is coming into focus, with ESPNs Jeremy Fowler reporting that Taylor has emerged as a sleeper trade target. Any deal would come with complications because of his contract and the financial side of the equation, which leaves Tennessee with a decision to weigh rather than a clear path to take. The Titans could explore moving him, but they are under no obligation to do so. [Read more 🡒]

Titans Face A Familiar Test After Finally Getting Their First Win

The Titans finally have something positive to build on as they turn the page to a Week 7 matchup with the Browns, and for a team that has spent the early part of the season searching for traction, that alone matters. Getting a first win can change the tone in a locker room, but the real question in Nashville is whether it can also steady a team that still needs its defense to carry a heavy load while the offense continues to find its footing.

Cleveland brings a familiar kind of stress test, the sort that asks Tennessee to win with discipline, field position and enough stops to keep the game within reach. The matchup sets up as one of those grind-it-out afternoons where the Titans defense could decide everything, which is why there is at least a reasonable case for Tennessee to come out on top if that side of the ball shows up again.
