The Tennessee Titans are still reshaping their cornerback group on the eve of training camp, and general manager Mike Borgonzi has added another familiar face to the mix.
According to various reports, the Titans have agreed to terms with free-agent cornerback Nazeeh Johnson. Veterans are set to report Tuesday, and Johnson becomes the fourth veteran corner added by Tennessee this offseason as the team keeps trying to stabilize one of its least proven spots.
Tennessee already opened free agency by bringing in two new boundary starters, Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott. The Titans also added Joshua Williams, who is expected to handle an important reserve role. Johnson gives the room another experienced option, and he arrives with a direct link to Borgonzi that could matter when roster decisions get tight.
Johnson and Borgonzi overlapped with the Kansas City Chiefs, where they were part of multiple Super Bowl teams together. That connection could help Johnson’s case as he tries to win a 53-man roster spot out of camp.
The Chiefs originally selected Johnson in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, when Borgonzi was Kansas City’s assistant general manager. Johnson spent his entire four-year rookie contract with the organization, though his path was anything but smooth. He was waived several times and dealt with serious knee and shoulder injuries along the way.
The Titans’ cornerback depth remains thin enough that Johnson should have a real chance to compete. Right now, the fifth cornerback job could come down to a camp battle involving three undrafted free agents, Keydrain Calligan, and Micah Robinson. Johnson’s experience gives him a clear edge in that mix.
He could also help himself on special teams. During his healthy 2024 season, Johnson logged 163 snaps there, and that kind of third-phase value could make him more attractive to coordinator John "Bones" Fassel.
By the time camp opens, Tennessee’s cornerback room will look completely overhauled. Johnson is the latest addition in a group Borgonzi knows well, and he’ll enter camp with a legitimate shot to stick.
