The Tennessee Titans are wasting no time poking around for help as training camp opens, and Thursday brought another name through the door: UFL safety Sam Kidd.
Kidd, who starred for the DC Defenders, is the latest player the Titans have evaluated after also working out two interior offensive linemen on the first day of camp. Tennessee has yet to make any roster moves or sign any of the three players it has brought in over the first two days, but the pattern is obvious - Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh are still searching for ways to raise the level of competition on the roster.
At 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, Kidd brings a strong frame and a resume built on production. He reached the Defenders after a college career at James Madison, where he played in 42 games and piled up 112 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, 11 pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
His path in Washington wasn’t smooth at first. Kidd battled injuries in his first two seasons with the Defenders, but he broke through in 2026 and became their top tackler. Over 12 games, including the regular season and postseason, he finished with 61 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks and two interceptions, helping push the Defenders to a championship game appearance.
For now, Kidd is just another player the Titans have taken a look at. But the fact that Tennessee keeps bringing in options this early in camp says plenty about how aggressively the front office and coaching staff are approaching the roster.
