The Tennessee Titans might not be racking up wins this season, but they’re still finding ways to keep things interesting - and even a little entertaining - as the year winds down. Sitting on just two victories, the Titans have had a turbulent ride, including a midseason coaching change after a 1-5 start that led to Brian Callahan’s dismissal. But despite the struggles, moments like the one we saw Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers offer a glimpse of the fight - and fun - still left in this team.
In a 37-24 loss to a tough 49ers squad, Tennessee gave fans a reason to smile when defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons hauled in a touchdown pass. Yes, a defensive tackle. And while trick plays involving big men are always a crowd-pleaser, this one had a little extra flair to it.
The play itself wasn’t drawn up to be a highlight-reel moment for Simmons. In fact, it was more broken than brilliant.
With the pocket collapsing around rookie quarterback Cam Ward, chaos ensued. But as the 49ers’ defense swarmed, Simmons held his ground in the end zone - not exactly running a crisp route, but staying alert.
Ward found him wide open, and the 305-pound lineman did the rest, securing his second career touchdown catch and his first since 2023.
Running back Tony Pollard couldn't help but give Simmons his flowers after the game. “I take my hat off to him for his route, and TD catch on Sunday,” Pollard said, clearly enjoying the moment.
And while Pollard was joking about Simmons’ “route,” there’s a real sense that the big man might not be done asking for offensive reps anytime soon. According to Pollard, Simmons is already “begging” for more.
And honestly, who could blame him? Simmons didn’t just contribute on offense - he was a force on defense, too.
Holy smokes! Cam Ward just threw a TD pass to Jeffery Simmons. 😱 pic.twitter.com/1V0kPwygCL

In a wild three-play sequence, he forced a fumble, then just two plays later, caught the touchdown pass. That’s the kind of impact you don’t see every Sunday, especially from a defensive tackle.
He finished the game with seven tackles, including one for loss, and added another sack to his season tally.
While no one’s expecting the Titans to start scheming Simmons into the red zone package every week, moments like this remind us that even in a down year, there’s still plenty of pride - and personality - in that locker room. With 2026 looming, Tennessee may be out of the playoff picture, but they’re not out of stories worth watching.
