Titans Hire Familiar Face as New Quarterbacks Coach Under Brian Daboll

Shea Tierney reunites with Brian Daboll in Tennessee, bringing a long history of collaboration to the challenge of shaping the Titans top pick into a franchise quarterback.

The Titans are making moves to reshape their offensive identity, and the latest addition to the staff signals just how serious they are about developing their young quarterback. Tennessee is hiring Shea Tierney as their new quarterbacks coach-a familiar name in coaching circles, especially for those who’ve followed Brian Daboll’s career.

Tierney brings with him a strong track record of working closely with quarterbacks, most recently serving in the same role under Daboll with the Giants. During his time in New York, he worked with a revolving door of signal-callers-Daniel Jones, Jaxson Dart, Tommy DeVito, and even Russell Wilson. That kind of experience, managing different styles and skill sets, is exactly what the Titans need as they continue to mold Cam Ward into the franchise cornerstone they envisioned when they took him with the No. 1 overall pick last year.

Tierney’s connection to Daboll runs deep. The two first worked together at Alabama back in 2017, and later reunited in Buffalo, where Tierney was part of the staff that helped develop Josh Allen into one of the league’s premier quarterbacks. That continuity and shared offensive philosophy could be crucial as the Titans look to build a cohesive system around Ward.

But Tierney isn’t the only piece of the puzzle coming over from New York. Offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo is also expected to join the Titans’ staff.

Bricillo spent the last two seasons coaching the Giants' O-line, and before that, he held similar roles with the Patriots and Raiders. His experience in both power and zone-blocking schemes gives Tennessee valuable versatility up front-something they'll need as they try to protect and develop their young quarterback.

Bottom line: these hires aren’t just about adding bodies to the coaching staff. They’re about building a foundation around Cam Ward, with coaches who’ve been in the trenches and know how to develop talent.

Tierney’s familiarity with Daboll’s system and his hands-on work with a variety of quarterbacks make him a natural fit for this next phase in Tennessee. And with Bricillo expected to oversee the offensive line, the Titans are clearly prioritizing structure, stability, and continuity-three things every young quarterback needs to succeed.
