The Giants are back home in Week 3, but they’re limping into this one.
New York will be without quarterback Jaxson Dart after he suffered a knee injury in Monday night’s 28-6 loss in Los Angeles. He appears to have avoided the worst-case scenario, but the expectation is that he’ll miss at least two to four weeks.
That leaves the Giants leaning on Jameis Winston, and the results from Monday night weren’t pretty. Winston completed just 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards in relief, and one of those throws went to the defense. He was also sacked twice by the Rams.
Winston has had stretches of production with New York, but last season he went 37 of 66 with two touchdowns and two interceptions in three games, including two starts.
The matchup itself has all the ingredients for a messy afternoon at MetLife Stadium. Dart and Nabers were both hurt on Monday night, and while the wide receiver may be available, he’d be catching passes from Winston.
Tennessee hasn’t exactly looked explosive either. The Titans opened the season with a 23-10 home loss to the Jets and followed that with a 24-20 defeat against the Eagles, also at home. They scored just 10 points in Week 1 and then managed 20 last week.
That’s part of why the total sits so low, but even with both teams struggling, it may not be low enough.
If there’s a side worth leaning toward, it’s Tennessee. And if the line keeps holding, the Titans are the team I’d be most interested in taking outright on the road.
