The Tennessee Titans were back on the field Thursday for their second practice of the 2026 season, and even without pads, the competition was already starting to show itself at a few important spots.
It was a cleaner day for the defense, which answered after an uneven Day 1. The linebackers in particular made life tougher on the offense, with Cedric Gray, James Williams, and Anthony Hill all coming away with plays that disrupted things.
On offense, Tyjae Spears remains one of the more intriguing names to watch. He has flashed his ability over his first three seasons, and the presence of a real play caller in Brian Daboll, along with a system that can tap into his skill set, could make him a major weapon for Cam Ward.
Elic Ayomanor has also kept building momentum. Through the first two days of camp, the second-year receiver has been one of the standouts, adding another touchdown on Thursday and continuing to show strong growth. Calvin Ridley was back in the mix after missing time with an illness, but Ayomanor didn’t let that slow his run.
There was also a better response from Dan Moore. After a rough Day 1 against Jermaine Johnson, Moore looked much sharper on Thursday and held up better in that matchup. That matters for an offense that needs him to protect Cam Ward’s blindside.
There were a few notable updates before the practice action settled in. JC Latham was activated from the PUP list and is working on the side again with some trainers, while Calvin Ridley and Mitch Trubisky both returned to practice and rejoined the rotation.
With the team still in the NFL acclimation period, it was another solid step without the full physicality that pads bring. That part is almost here, and when it arrives, the real competition will start to sharpen.
