The Titans closed out the first week of training camp on Saturday, and even without pads, there was enough on the field to sort through. Tennessee will take Sunday off before getting back to work Monday in pads, which should bring a much clearer picture of where things stand.
For now, one of the loudest themes from the week was Elic Ayomanor continuing to separate himself. Jim Wyatt of Titans.com reported that the Stanford product caught nine passes in team periods across the week, including four on Saturday.
He also turned in another sideline highlight and, according to ESPN’s Turron Davenport, hauled in a back-shoulder throw from quarterback Cam Ward. Calvin Ridley is currently listed as the Titans’ No. 2 boundary receiver, but Ayomanor has put himself right on his heels.
It would not be a surprise if Ayomanor opens Week 1 as the starter opposite No. 4 overall pick Carnell Tate, with Wan'Dale Robinson working from the slot.
Ward kept building on an efficient start to camp. On Saturday, the 2025 No. 1 overall pick went 16 of 26 overall, per Wyatt, and was 13 of 21 in team periods.
He and Ayomanor have been connecting repeatedly throughout practice, and that chemistry has been hard to miss. Ward is still early in his development under offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, but he continues to flash the kind of traits that make teams believe in a franchise quarterback.
The other quarterback storyline belongs to Will Levis, who is fighting for a roster spot and didn’t sound like a player short on confidence. Speaking to the media Saturday, Levis said he feels better than ever and believes he’ll be a starter in the NFL again.
He added, "There aren't 32 quarterbacks in this league better than me," Levis said. His future in Nashville looks uncertain, but the belief remains unmistakable.
Up front, JC Latham was back as a full participant after coming off the physically unable to perform list on Thursday. Austin Stanley of A to Z Sports said Latham moved well Saturday and appears refocused after a rough start to camp.
The 2024 No. 7 overall pick is heading into what many are calling a make-or-break year, and the Titans need him to hold up on the right side. If he can stay healthy in 2026 and develop into a dependable starter, that would be a major lift for Tennessee’s offense.
Latham has the size to be a force, but he still has to sharpen his pass protection and make better use of his mobility.
