The Titans get a useful next step Friday when they welcome the Seahawks for a joint practice, and a handful of players have the most to prove after Tennessee’s 19-13 preseason win over the San Francisco 49ers.
For a roster still taking shape, this is the kind of setting that can tilt a few battles. Some players are trying to build on a good start.
Others are trying to wipe away a rough opener. Either way, the pressure is on.
Fernando Carmona is one of the clearest names to watch. He has been trending upward and appears to hold the inside track to the starting right guard job.
A strong showing against a tough Seattle defensive line would only strengthen that grip. If he eventually locks down the spot, Tennessee would be in a strong place.
Jackson Slater is another lineman worth tracking. He’s been getting work at multiple interior spots, and that kind of flexibility could be what gets him on the roster. If he proves he can be a dependable backup at all three interior positions, that versatility could open the door for Tennessee to carry an extra player somewhere else.
The Titans also need to sort out the tight end depth chart, and Kylen Granson has a real chance to help himself. With rookie tight end Jaren Kanak on injured reserve, Granson is competing with David Martin-Robinson for the third tight end role. Right now, Martin-Robinson seems to have the edge, but Granson can change that with a strong day against Seattle.
Xavier Restrepo faces a tougher path. If he’s going to make the roster, the time to make a move is now, and special teams may be his ticket. He’s an impressive slot receiver, but Tennessee’s crowded wideout group makes it hard to stick without that added value.
Dorian Mausi is in the opposite spot: he needs a cleaner performance. He struggled against the 49ers on defense and on special teams, and with limited room at linebacker, another uneven practice could damage his case.
On the defensive line, Malik Herring has already given himself something to build on. He stood out against San Francisco and is positioned to benefit from Jaylen Harrell’s injury, with Harrell set to miss all of 2026 with a torn ACL. Keldric Faulk is also a question mark because of a shoulder injury, which could mean more reps for Herring.
Erick Hallett rounds out the group. He’s been making steady progress and has worked his way into the mix as a possible depth safety. Facing Seattle’s passing attack should be a strong measuring stick for him.
