Dan Moore didn’t exactly bury the lede when he met with reporters after the Tennessee Titans’ second practice of the week. The veteran left tackle talked about the energy around the team, praised the changes in the building, and made it pretty clear he feels the difference.
“Yeah, I just feel good energy in the building. You can just feel a good vibe as soon as you walk in.” Moore said, “I think they did a great job with coaching changes, brought up leaders, and you can just feel the flow of things; it feels professional, feels organized, like a winning culture.”
That comment landed with some extra weight because it came after what sounded like a much better Day 2 for Moore against Jermaine Johnson. Earlier in the week, Moore had appeared to have some trouble with Johnson during the first practice session, but he responded well in the second round.
Before practice, head coach Robert Saleh had already gone to bat for Moore. During his media availability, Saleh addressed the left tackle’s Day 1 struggles and backed him publicly heading into the next practice.
Moore also used his time at the podium to break down Cam Ward’s progress, but the strongest takeaway from his comments was the message about the environment around the team. The Titans are asking Moore to be more than just a veteran presence. After a disappointing first season in Nashville, they’ve invested heavily in him and are counting on him to lock down the left side of the line and help protect their franchise quarterback.
