Solomon Thomas Reunites With Robert Saleh After Trade Shakes Things Up

Solomon Thomas reunites with Coach Robert Saleh as Cowboys reshuffle their defensive lineup in strategic trade with the Titans.

The Dallas Cowboys are shaking things up with a second trade this Wednesday, sending defensive lineman Solomon Thomas to the Tennessee Titans. This move involves a swap of seventh-round picks, with the Cowboys receiving the 218th overall pick and the Titans getting the 225th.

Financially, the Cowboys gain some breathing room, saving around $2.5 million in cap space, though they'll carry $750,000 in dead money. This trade marks a reunion for Thomas and Titans' coach Robert Saleh.

The duo has a history, having worked together with the 49ers from 2017-2020 and later with the Jets from 2021-2024. Last season was a rare exception when they weren't on the same team.

The Cowboys, transitioning to a 3-4 defense, had a surplus of defensive tackles. Earlier today, they sent Osa Odighizuwa to the 49ers, signaling a strategic shift.

Thomas, now 30, played in 16 games last season, starting twice. He logged 27 tackles over 419 defensive snaps and contributed on special teams with 85 snaps.

The former third overall pick in 2017 has accumulated 239 tackles, 18.5 sacks, 53 quarterback hits, and forced three fumbles over his career. This trade could be a fresh start for Thomas, and it'll be interesting to see how he fits into the Titans' defensive scheme.
