The Seattle Seahawks didn’t win in Tennessee, but Jacardia Wright made sure they left Nissan Stadium with at least one highlight worth circling.
Early in the first quarter Sunday night, the second-year running back ripped off a 69-yard touchdown run that gave Seattle an instant jolt against the Titans. Drew Lock, starting for a Seahawks group that rested most of its regulars, had already put Seattle on the board by hitting tight end Elijah Arroyo for a 36-yard score. Then Wright took over.
With 5:43 left in the opening period, Lock handed off to Wright, who found a crease up the middle and turned it into a race Tennessee couldn’t win. According to FOX Sports and the Associated Press, Wright finished with eight carries for 81 yards and the touchdown.
The celebration came with a price. Seattle’s bench emptied after the play, and the Seahawks drew a 15-yard unsportsmanlike-conduct penalty. Tacoma News Tribune beat writer Gregg Bell pointed out on X that Zach Charbonnet was among those who came off the sideline to join the moment.
The run also drew plenty of attention online. ClutchPoints posted the play on X with the caption: “JACARDIA WRIGHT TAKES IT 69 YARDS FOR THE TD”
Seattle still pushed its lead to 16-3 by the end of the first quarter after Jason Myers added a 48-yard field goal, but the offense went quiet after that. Myers also missed the extra point from the longer spot after Wright’s touchdown.
From there, Tennessee chipped away. Joey Slye kicked four field goals, and D’Ernest Johnson added a late 2-yard touchdown run as the Titans scored 16 straight points to win 19-16. Tennessee moved to 2-0 in the preseason, while Seattle dropped to 0-2.
Wright’s night mattered beyond the score line. The former Missouri State back entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2025, appeared in just one regular-season game last season, and spent most of the year on injured reserve or the practice squad. He signed a reserve/futures deal in February, and Sunday’s burst gave his case for a 53-man roster spot a real boost.
Brady Henderson of ESPN described the play on X, noting the lane Wright found and the help he got up front from RG Christian Haynes, among others. The broader picture was just as clear: Seattle’s second unit got two touchdowns on its first two drives, with Lock sharp in the first half before Jalen Milroe took over later and threw two interceptions.
Lock finished 12 of 14 for 103 yards and the touchdown. Seattle turned it over three times overall, while Tennessee had none. The Seahawks also piled up 14 penalties for 129 yards.
The preseason now moves to Friday night in Kansas City, where Seattle will close things out. For Wright, the tape from Sunday gives the coaches one more reason to keep watching.
