Robert Saleh Stuns Fans With Bold Opinion On Titans' Will Levis

Despite setbacks, Titans' head coach Robert Saleh sees untapped potential in Will Levis, offering hope for his role as a valuable team asset.

The Tennessee Titans find themselves in an intriguing quarterback situation as they navigate the offseason. With Cam Ward, the 2025 No. 1 overall pick, leading the depth chart, it's easy to overlook Will Levis. Drafted in the second round back in 2023, Levis has had a challenging journey, especially after a shoulder surgery sidelined him last summer.

Newly appointed Titans head coach Robert Saleh, however, sees potential in Levis. Speaking at the NFL scouting combine, Saleh shared his optimism about Levis' future with the team.

"I just met him, and we had a great conversation," Saleh remarked. "Back in '24, when I was with the Jets, we faced him in Week 2.

He’s got tremendous talent, size, and arm strength. I encouraged him to have the best offseason of his life and compete hard.

I’m really looking forward to him being part of this football team."

Levis had a tough 2024 season, which led to his benching due to performance issues. His stats reflected the struggle, with a 25.2 adjusted QBR and an 81.4 passer rating, placing him at the bottom among qualified players. As he enters the final year of his rookie contract, his trade value might not be high, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the picture.

Ward's recent AC joint sprain adds another layer to the Titans' quarterback dynamics. Saleh's consideration of Levis as a backup stems from the need for someone familiar with the team’s offensive system.

"You want a backup who can win games if needed, support the starter, and prepare like a starter," Saleh explained. "Essentially, you’re looking for another starter."

Levis, with a career record of 5-16, might not have had the success he'd hoped for, but the Titans could see him as a valuable insurance policy. If Ward’s shoulder recovery hits any snags, Levis could have an opportunity to step up and prove his worth.
