Republicans And Democrats Gear Up For Montgomery County's Pivotal May 5 Election

Montgomery County gears up for a pivotal May 5 primary with key local positions on the line and a mix of fresh faces and seasoned incumbents vying for voters' support.

As the qualifying deadline for the Montgomery County Primary on May 5 approaches, both Republican and Democratic candidates are gearing up for a variety of races. Voters will have the chance to select candidates for key positions including County Mayor, Sheriff, all districts in the County Commission, and several school board seats.

Notably absent from this year’s candidate list is Sheriff John Fuson, who has opted not to seek reelection. Fuson, who has served since his appointment in December 2012, declined an interview request regarding his decision.

Candidates have until noon on Thursday, February 26, to withdraw their names, with updates expected from local outlets thereafter. The voter registration deadline is set for April 6, and early voting will run from April 15 through April 30.
