Jaguars Trade Buzz Just Raised A Bigger Brian Thomas Jr Question

With the NFL trade deadline looming, teams like the Colts and Jaguars are exploring bold moves while the Titans hold firm amidst a whirlwind of trade speculation.

The trade deadline chatter is starting to center on a few familiar names, and the Colts may be the team to watch most closely.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Indianapolis quarterback Daniel Jones is a surprise candidate he’s keeping an eye on, especially with several teams suddenly in need of help under center. Jones isn’t the only Colts name drawing attention, either.

Schefter also said the Colts have offers on the table for running back Jonathan Taylor and are waiting to see whether teams improve those bids before deciding what to do. He believes Indianapolis eventually moves Taylor and wide receiver Josh Downs as well.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler added that Jones is at least on the radar for some teams heading into the deadline, including the Ravens.

Dan Graziano offered a slightly different read on Taylor, saying the Colts are taking the stance that they do not need to trade him. Taylor is 27 and still under contract after signing a fresh extension this offseason, and Graziano believes enough teams are interested that Indianapolis won’t have to slash its asking price. Even so, he expects Taylor to be dealt.

Fowler and Graziano also pointed to a few other Colts who could be available, including defensive tackle Grover Stewart, tight end Mo Alie-Cox and wide receiver Keenan Allen.

Jacksonville, meanwhile, appears to be pushing hard in the other direction. Ian Rapoport said the Jaguars have been working the phones aggressively in search of a top-tier addition for the interior defensive line.

Fowler backed that up, saying Jacksonville is willing to be aggressive to bolster the defensive front. He singled out Eagles defensive tackle Moro Ojomo as a player of interest, though Philadelphia may prefer to extend him instead.

The Jaguars are also drawing interest from other teams on the trade market. Rapoport said wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has attracted significant attention, including from the Chiefs, though it remains unclear whether Jacksonville would actually move him.

Fowler wrote that other teams believe the amount of interest in Thomas, along with his declining role, could eventually push the Jaguars toward a deal. Fowler also connected Jacksonville to Cardinals safety Budda Baker if Arizona is willing to part with him.

In Tennessee, the outlook sounds much quieter. Titans Insider’s Terry McCormick reported that team sources have told him the Titans are not necessarily looking to keep dealing and that the odds of more trades are “slim.”

Still, the Titans do have a few names that could interest other teams before Tuesday’s deadline. McCormick highlighted running back Tony Pollard as the headliner, noting he could bring back a mid-round pick. Safety Amani Hooker, wide receiver Calvin Ridley and defensive end Jacob Martin were also mentioned as possible candidates.

McCormick said Tennessee is unlikely to make a move unless it gets more than fair market value, the kind of return it received in the Jeffery Simmons deal.

Titans May Have Found A Nickelback Answer They Werent Expecting

Alontae Taylors week-to-week role has been one of the more interesting subplots for the Titans, especially after he was benched in Weeks 6 and 7 before getting thrown back into the mix at nickelback in Week 8. Marcus Harris injury opened the door, and Taylor answered with a busy afternoon in the slot, logging 41 snaps and making a couple of plays that stood out in a game where Tennessee needed help on the back end.

He forced a fumble and broke up a two-point conversion pass, the kind of impact the Titans were hoping to see when they turned to him there. Still, the performance was not spotless, as he also allowed six catches for 82 yards, which leaves Tennessee with a real decision to make during the bye week. Harris injury status will go a long way toward determining whether Taylors latest opportunity turns into something more permanent. [Read more 🡒]

Titans Fans Will Have Strong Opinions On This Front Office Snub

A front office shortcut is already stirring conversation around the Titans, after New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh confirmed he reached directly to owner Amy Adams Strunk to explore a possible trade. Rather than going through Tennessees general manager, Harbaugh said he made the call himself and made clear his team is open to hearing from anyone about trade possibilities.

For Tennessee, the detail is the kind that tends to get people talking because it touches on how business gets done behind the scenes. Harbaugh brushed off the criticism that followed, but the fact that he went over the usual chain of command is exactly the sort of move that can leave fans and league observers debating what it says about the process, the leverage and what might come next. Cam Ward Just Gave Titans Fans A Reason To Believe Again

Cam Wards latest outing gave Tennessee a much-needed glimpse of what the offense can look like when the rookie quarterback settles in and starts playing with confidence. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, Ward completed 65 percent of his passes, threw two touchdowns and topped 300 passing yards for the first time in his career, a meaningful step forward for a Titans attack that has been searching for traction.

Brian Baldinger singled out Wards fundamentals and the way he handled run-pass options and play-action concepts, both of which helped the offense look more organized and efficient. With the Titans now on their bye week, the next test comes in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the challenge will be carrying this progress into a division game that could say a lot about how real this turnaround might be.
