Gus Bradley Linked to Titans' Bold Move for Star Pass Rusher

The Titans are poised to make a strategic move in free agency, with Gus Bradley's influence pointing towards a key target to bolster the pass rush.

The Tennessee Titans are gearing up for NFL free agency with a clear mission: bolster their pass rush. With the EDGE position standing out as a glaring need, head coach Robert Saleh, known for his defensive acumen, is keen on adding more firepower alongside Jeffery Simmons on the defensive line.

Saleh, who plans to take the reins on calling defensive plays, has brought in the seasoned Gus Bradley as defensive coordinator. Their history of collaboration ensures a unified defensive strategy, which is crucial as they navigate the free agency waters.

Bradley’s defensive scheme will be pivotal in identifying the right free-agent pass rushers to fit this new system. One name that stands out is Indianapolis Colts EDGE Kwity Paye, whose contract is nearing its end. Bradley's prior experience with Paye could make him a prime target for the Titans.

Bradley, who took on the Colts' defensive coordinator role in 2022, saw Paye blossom under his guidance. Drafted 21st overall in 2021, Paye saw his sack numbers climb from four in his rookie year to six in his second season.

His growth continued, reaching a career-high 8.5 sacks in his third year. Even in his final season with Bradley, Paye managed eight sacks, showcasing his consistent impact.

Despite a dip to four sacks this past season, Paye's best performances have undeniably come under Bradley's tutelage. The Colts, anticipating his potential departure, have been investing in young talent like JT Tuimoloau and Laiatu Latu.

For the Titans, the need is pressing. With no starting-caliber EDGEs under contract, they’re relying on sophomore Femi Oladejo to step up after a challenging rookie year. Jaylen Harrell showed promise as a rotational player, but the Titans are in search of reliable starters and seasoned veterans.

Paye represents an ideal free-agent acquisition. Familiar with the defensive schemes of Saleh and Bradley, he would instantly elevate the Titans’ pass rush, bringing both talent and experience to a team in need of a defensive boost.
