Region 4-3A Football Awards: Quincy Mitchell Headlines a Star-Studded All-Region Team
The Region 4-3A coaches have made it official: this year's standout players and coaches have been recognized, and the list is stacked with talent from top to bottom. At the center of it all is Forrest’s electric sophomore running back Quincy Mitchell, who takes home Region Player of the Year honors after a season that can only be described as dominant.
Mitchell didn’t just lead his team - he ran through defenses like a seasoned veteran. The 5-foot-6, 165-pound back turned heads across the state, piling up 2,919 rushing yards and finding the end zone 40 times.
That kind of production isn’t just impressive - it’s elite. He was among the top statistical performers in Tennessee, and his breakout campaign helped power the Rockets under head coach Justin Palmer.
Offensive Firepower and Defensive Grit
Joining Mitchell among the region’s top individual honorees is Sequatchie County’s junior quarterback Hunter Minton, who earned Offensive Player of the Year. Minton was a dual-threat force for the Indians, completing 116 of 186 passes for 1,852 yards and 19 touchdowns across 11 starts.
He added another 538 yards and nine scores on the ground, making him one of the most complete offensive weapons in the region. His ability to extend plays and deliver under pressure helped Sequatchie County secure a runner-up finish in Region 4-3A.
On the other side of the ball, Watertown’s Garrett Davis proved to be just as impactful. Named Defensive Player of the Year, Davis was a two-way standout who brought toughness and leadership to the Purple Tigers.
As a defender, he racked up 65 tackles, five tackles for loss, and an interception, all while also serving as the team’s starting quarterback. That kind of versatility is rare, and Davis delivered on both sides of the ball week in and week out.
Coach Recognition
Giles County’s Tanner Holley was named Assistant Coach of the Year, a nod to the work being done behind the scenes in building one of the region’s most well-rounded programs. Holley’s impact was felt across both sides of the ball, helping Giles County produce multiple first-team selections.
